Counseling for “A Better You”

Welcome to Your Journey Toward Healing

Life can be hectic at times, and will lead us to prioritize anything and everything else before ourselves. There may be times where we feel lost and unsure of what to do. This can be an overwhelming feeling and may lead us to question who we are and what makes up our identity. By entering the journey that is therapy, you will be able to finally prioritize getting to know yourself; your likes and dislikes, triggers and strengths, as well as developing the wisdom to become A Better You.

Jessica Cordeiro, LMFT

Hello, and welcome to your mental health journey. Taking the step toward creating a better you is a great one, and together we can implement lasting changes toward your mental health.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of New Jersey, with eleven years of experience in the mental health field. I have experience working with the adolescent and adult populations in PHP/IOP levels of care along with clients in an outpatient setting, dealing with anxiety, depression, bipolar, addiction, personality disorders, and psychosis, to name a few.

I am also currently working as a clinical coordinator a PHP/IOP program. I have facilitated groups, such as; communication skills, anger management, relationships, self-awareness, self-esteem, families affected by addiction, as well as relapse prevention.

In addition to my experience with individuals and families, I have also worked with couples who are seeking improvements and healing within their relationship. Creating open dialogue within a relationship is the key to compassion and understanding. I will also assist you in developing healthy boundaries, and allow each member in the family/couple dynamic feel heard and empowered.

My passion for mental health is rooted understanding each individual’s background and ways in which their history affects them today.

My approach in therapy is built on empathy and compassion. I utilize a calm, caring, nonjudgmental approach while implementing humor and, when necessary, a firm and assertive stance.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy, also known as psychotherapy or counseling, is a form of mental health treatment where a therapist works one-on-one with a client to address their emotional, psychological, and behavioral concerns. Individual therapy can be helpful for a range of mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, eating disorders, and relationship issues.

Couple’s Therapy

Couple's therapy, also known as couples counseling or marriage therapy, is a form of therapy that aims to help couples improve their relationship and resolve conflicts. The therapist may use a variety of techniques and interventions to help the couple communicate more effectively, better understand each other's perspectives, and develop strategies for managing conflict. The goal of couple's therapy is to help couples strengthen their relationship, improve their emotional connection, and enhance their overall satisfaction with their relationship.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a type of psychological therapy that aims to help families improve communication and resolve conflicts. The focus of family therapy is on the family as a system, rather than on individual members, and the therapist works with the family as a whole to identify patterns of behavior and communication that may be contributing to problems.

Family therapy can be used to address a wide range of issues, including communication problems, conflicts between family members, behavioral problems in children, mental health conditions, and substance abuse. The ultimate goal of family therapy is to help families build stronger, more supportive relationships and improve overall well-being.
